Potted Garden Inspiration

Hi there!

It's approaching rainy season in Indonesia.
Makin mendekati musim hujan!

It is the first year for me to have a (potted) garden and I am excited to pass this challenging season well really. I am sure I will learn something new. Thanks to the weather :)
Terima kasih musim hujan! :)

If you want to share your experience gardening during the rainy season, please feel free to leave your comment and let's learn together.

By the way, check out some of inspiration for your potted garden. If you don't have a potted garden yet, I recommend you to try one. It is fun! :)
Seru deh! :)

I love the idea of re-defining a tea pot. It's cute and elegant at the same time.
Saya suka ide mengalihkan fungsi poci teh ini menjadi pot. Imut dan elegan.
How about reusing old flour sifter?
Bagaimana kalau ayak tepung usang dijadikan pot?

.. or creating a mini vertical garden of pastel pots on your fence

.. turn cracked mug or bowl into pots.
.. gunakan mug atau mangkok retak sebagai pot

anything can be planters! It's so eco-friendly! :)
.. apapun bisa dijadikan pot. Jadi kita tetap ramah lingkungan! :)

 ..pots from old boots
.. pot dari sepatu bekas

.. create more garden space on the wall! I super like this idea.

And lastly, pots made of formula cans. I like that they are painted to prevent them from being rusted.

I hope you are inspired to utilize anything at home for your garden.
Let's create something out of anything we have at the moment now.

Cheers,
Irene

Mom's Garden

Hi there!!

Last weekend I went back to my hometown for a short visit.

So, happy to see my family especially my mom and my nieces!

My parents love gardening too. We have fruity plants, herbs, flowers and Sansevieria and more. My mom smartly planted many tall lemon grasses to fence our house from dusty street! Ain't she artistic, creative and brilliant? :)

Check out some of her babies in the garden:

Orange Rose!

It's a wonderful flower. For me it looks like the combination of Orchid and Lavender

This leafy plant caught my eyes. Look how happy it is!

 Blooming!

Can't wait to be home again! :)

Do you want to share your garden with me? You can! Drop me your garden pictures, tell me more about it and I will post it in my blog!

Cheers,
Irene

My First Succulent

ALOHA!!

Wow! I had a pleasant weekend.

My friend took me with a group of his friends to Bandung in West Java, 2 hours from Jakarta by car. It was not planned at all for me.

The main purpose is to attend his friend's wedding. So, since it was not at all planned for me, I came in white t-shirt and blue jeans (thanks to my ever present scarf and a beginner's skill of doing hair updo, I hoped I made it somehow casual formal in the wedding).

Since we were in Bandung already, we wanted to do something more in the city and tried to do it easily and  spontaneously. Little did I know that we were heading to a strawberry garden and surprise, inside there was a small greenhouse providing many potted succulent and sansivieria plants for sales.

In a nutshell, I was in heaven since it is one of my dreams to have succulent collection.

My first Succulent collection.
And a pot of Sansivieria, named Pagoda which is popular in Korea.

Check out some of succulents and sansivieria plants that hit my eyes yesterday.

 I don't know their names

Succculent is known as desert plants

They store moisture in times of drought

But, they still need regular watering at least once in 3 days

This one is so feminine and gorgeous

 They can be kept indoor.

But need to have outdoor exposure once a week

This one looks like sueded succulent. So charming

We also found hanging plants but decided to buy it when we have our own house already. I am so passionate about having these lovely plants in my future garden.

Let me know if you know the name of the plants in the picture or any experience growing up some succulents.

Hope you also had a pleasant weekend!

Cheers,
Irene

Watering your potted plants when you are away

ALOHA!

Hope you are doing great today! :)

Last two weeks I was away for 4 days for a short trip.
Dua minggu lalu saya berlibur selama 4 hari.

So, while being excited about the trip, I was concerned about how to water my potted plants especially because everyone was out for vacations as well.

Thank to Google, I found some quick tips. The main idea is to avoid potted plants from drying by soaking the pots. It's quick and simple!!
Berkat Google, saya menemukan beberapa tips cerdas.

Step 1: Place enough pebbles inside a bucket. Then, pour enough water.
I would be away for 4 days, so I soaked 20% - 25% of the pots
Langkah 1: Taruh batuan di dalam ember. Lalu tuang air secukupnya.

Step 2: place the pot on top of the pebbles
Langkah 2: Letakkan pot di atas batuan tadi.

Finally, place them all in a room :)

The result was lovely! When I was back from the trip, I found them all in the best conditions. I think I might try this soaking-in-the-bucket method soon especially because it has been so hot and bright lately.
Hasilnya mempesonakan sekali!

Hope this will be a useful tips for you to water your potted plants when you are away :)
Semoga berguna bila teman-teman membutuhkan ide menyiram tanaman saat kita berlibur :)

Cheers,
Irene

Wild Flower from the Street Side

Hello!

How have you been?

I got home early from the office today and had a chance to look around the street more conveniently because the day was still bright plus the traffic was friendly due to the exodus that happens annually during the Hari Raya for our moslem friends.

And surprise!! I got these lovely wild flowers (I don't know the name really) on the side of the street near my house.

The colors are adorable. They come in exotic pink and soft orange

They bloom as a group and each flower consists of 3 petals.

Taa daaa, the final result. Adding more color to the room and it is cost free:)

All together, they somehow remind me of strawberry punch :)

I hope you'll have time to experience with some wild flowers around you as well.
Or even, you've tried applying wild flowers to decorate your home? Share your stories.

Let's do something with whatever we have now.

Cheers,
Irene

Tebar Pesona Bunga

Setiap minggu saya jatuh cinta.

Kadang dibuat melebar kesamping seakan menjadi pagar. Kadang diatur seakan-akan sedang memeluk si altar. Belum lagi seni meracik warna dan macam-macam kuntum dan kembang. Aih.. indah sekali! Ingin rasanya berguru dengan sang perangkai bunga.

Tapi, kita bisa belajar dari mana saja. Simak beberapa trik menarik merangkai bunga berikut:

1. Menata bunga dalam vas lebar

 1. Ikat tanaman sehingga menjadi beberapa rangkaian bunga kecil

2. Membuat menara bunga

1. Bentuk sponge menjadi cone. Rendam dalam air semalaman.
2. Masukkan cone dalam vas lalu tata bunga sesuai selera

Berikut inspirasi menara bunga lainnya:

3. Menata bunga dalam vas super besar

Salam hangat,

Inspirasi Gardening: Taman dalam Pot

Cannot get enough of aunty Martha.

Hanging pot atau pot bergantung berisi tanaman liar. One of my favorite!

Green House Ideas

Outdoor dining table. Saatnya mendekatkan keluarga dengan alam. Vas bunga di tengah dining table menambah nuansa alami. Bila tanah sangat terbatas, don't give up. Note, bila musim hujan datang, siap-siap dengan tudung atap.
